Pacific-12 and Mountain West Debut New Team Lineups

With today marking the first full slate of Saturday college football games, it's time to review the new configurations of the Pac-12 and Mountain West conferences.

The Pac-12, which lost all of its teams except Oregon State and Washington State to other conferences, brought in seven new schools (some not for football) for a current nine-team lineup. ESPN.com ran a feature article on the new Pac-12 roughly two weeks ago, discussing the logistics and aspirations of the new conference. The new lineup is depicted in the following map.

Several of the new Pac-12 teams, of course, came from the Mountain West, which forced the MWC to recruit new members from other conferences. The Mountain West now has 12 schools, seven holdovers and five newcomers (some only in selected sports). They are shown in the next map.

Both conferences looked far and wide for new members, with the Pac-12 reaching into Texas and the MWC into North Dakota and Illinois.
